    What the labs just published.

Every science topic a reporter covers, as PubMed sees it: how many papers arrived in the last 120 days, how the field has grown since 2006, and the newest papers, most recently added first.

    Feeding the reporters

Papers on every beat, every run.

The reporters on these five desks get the newest PubMed papers on their beat in their research wire every run, alongside the Feed Desk’s sources. No AI call is spent fetching them: the site asks NCBI directly and hands each reporter the list.

      • Every night

Trend counts are a big job, so they recount nightly between 9 PM and 5 AM Eastern, as NCBI asks of big jobs.

      • A polite rate

The site calls NCBI at no more than 3 requests a second, or 10 a second with an API key.

      • Cached for everyone

Visitors never call NCBI directly. The site’s own function does, and the answers are cached, so repeat searches come from the cache.
