2026 is the year the Musk companies folded into each other and went public: SpaceX bought xAI on February 2, listed on Nasdaq as SPCX on June 12 in the largest IPO ever, and bought Cursor on August 14. Starship reached orbit for the first time on September 28 and released 26 Starlink V3 satellites. A chip fab called Terafab broke ground in Texas. Cybercab started paid rides without a steering wheel, the Semi finally went into volume production, and the Roadster had its reveal date. Every claim below carries a date and a source; the Musk reporter and its sub-agents keep this page current and file what changed in the Agent desk below.
Status as of October 2, 2026. Live = operating or shipping · Building = under construction or in test · Dated = announced with a date · Slipped = past its last promised date.
SpaceX acquired xAI in an all-stock deal valuing SpaceX at $1 trillion and xAI at $250 billion. In May Musk said xAI would stop existing as a separate company; Grok and X became SpaceX's AI division, rebranded SpaceXAI in July. Michael Nicolls (Starlink VP) became xAI president on April 10.
LiveS-1 filed May 20; priced at $135 a share for a $1.77 trillion valuation; closed its first day at $161. The S-1 names the use of proceeds: "building orbital artificial intelligence infrastructure" for xAI. Disclosed 2025 revenue: Starlink $11.4 billion, Space $4.1 billion, xAI $3.2 billion; net loss $4.94 billion. Musk's lock-up: 366 days.
LiveLaunched from Starbase, lost one upper-stage engine on ascent, still reached orbit, released 26 Starlink V3 satellites (about 1 Tbit/s downlink each, 10x V2), and splashed down in the northern Pacific after three hours; the six-orbit plan was cut short and no catch was attempted. A full Starship carries up to 60 V3s.
LiveIn May 2025 Musk put the odds of an uncrewed Starship to Mars in late 2026 at 50-50; the plan called for 4 to 8 ships in the November–December window. By 2026 SpaceX moved the first landing to no earlier than 2028 — the fifth Mars date since 2016 (2018, 2022, 2026, now 2028).
SlippedSpaceX asked the FCC for up to one million orbital data-center satellites at 500–2,000 km, solar-powered with radiative cooling, five-year lifetimes and optical links (1 Tbps planned). The S-1 calls this the use of IPO money. In August SpaceXAI said a first-generation Starmind satellite is based on an NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 rack; no launch date has been given.
BuildingAnnounced March 21, 2026 at Seaholm Power Plant in Austin; prototype fab broke ground in April near Giga Texas, Intel joined the same month. The full-scale plant goes on the old Gibbons Creek power station site in Grimes County: county filings put the range at $55–119 billion, construction is targeted to start December 1, 2026 and finish by the end of 2028. Goal: one million wafer starts a month on Intel 14A; first product the Tesla AI5 chip (small batches 2026, volume 2027).
BuildingColossus 1: 230,000 GPUs, about 500 MW. Colossus 2: 550,000 GB200/GB300, about 1 GW, with "MACROHARD" painted on the roof (October 11–13, 2025). A third building bought December 30, 2025 takes the site to about 2 GW; the stated target is 1 million GPUs. Macrohard itself is an AI software project announced August 2025 to "simulate" a software company. On September 25, 2026 Musk said Colossus 2 could more than double its NVIDIA chip count by year-end.
LiveGrok 4.6 shipped August 12 (1.5 trillion parameters, 500K context). Grok 4.7 finished pre-training August 12 and was targeted for September 12, trained on SpaceX engineering records and Starlink telemetry. Grok 5 is promised "before end of 2026". Grok Bot for Enterprise launched September 3; Grok Voice shipped in Tesla's summer software update. The Memphis cluster had a 3.5-hour outage on September 3.
LiveSpaceX completed its acquisition of Cursor (Anysphere), the AI coding company, as a wholly owned subsidiary inside the SpaceXAI team — disclosed in an 8-K.
LiveFirst production unit built at Giga Texas in February; launch event at ACL Live on September 3; paid rides from September 4 with about 45 vehicles registered. 48 kWh pack, about 293 miles, 219 hp, 1,412 kg, two seats, no steering wheel, pedals or mirrors; DC fast charging with inductive charging planned; "sub-$30,000". NHTSA opened an audit of Tesla's self-certification on September 4.
LiveFremont is installing the first-generation line sized for one million robots a year; Giga Texas is designing a 10-million-a-year line for 2027. V3 had not been shown as of the Q1 call ("closer to production start"). Spec today: 173 cm, 57 kg, 20 kg carry, 22-DoF hands; Musk's price target $30,000 (Oct 2024). Future units run on Tesla's AI5/AI6 chips — the first Terafab product.
BuildingSeven years after the 2019 promise, the 1.8-million-square-foot Semi factory beside Giga Nevada started volume production. 325-mile and 500-mile versions at about $260,000 and $290,000; 1.7 kWh per mile; 82,000 lb. Customers at launch: PepsiCo, DHL, US Foods, ABF, Einride, IMC, WattEV; the ZET SCALE alliance ordered 2,500 trucks on September 22.
LiveThe fifth reveal date of the year (April 1, "late April", "a month or so", "a few weeks", then October 1 at 7:30 pm near McGregor). Promised: 200 kWh, 620 miles, 1.9 s to 60 mph — 1.1 s with the SpaceX cold-gas thruster package; $200,000 base, $250,000 Founders. Production was last said to be 2027 or 2028 at Giga Texas. The Musk reporter files what was actually shown.
Dated$650 million Series E at a $9 billion valuation (June 2025). First UK patient at UCL on October 28, 2025; two Canadian patients in Toronto. 2026 plans: high-volume device production, near-fully automated surgery, a new through-the-dura threading technique, thought-to-speech trials, and the first Blindsight vision implants (FDA breakthrough designation since Sept 2024).
BuildingAnnounced July 28, 2025; cleared by state and federal agencies in February 2026; the Tennessee Legislature moved oversight to a state-appointed agency. Two Prufrock machines were tunneling by August with a third on the way; first phase targeted for fall 2026 at the earliest, full build in two years. Advertised as privately funded (state land and right-of-way provided). Vegas Loop remains the only operating system: 4.54 miles built of the 68 promised in 2019.
BuildingMusk said X Money, the wallet and payments layer inside X, would open early access in April 2026. X itself became part of SpaceX's AI division after the merger.
