The exascale era has a new leader: as of the June 2026 Top500, China's LineShine claimed #1 at 2.198 exaflops HPL — more than 20% ahead of the US El Capitan (1.809 EF) and the first China-based #1 since 2017. JUPITER became Europe's first exascale system. Note the gap between these HPL machines and AI training clusters, which are far larger in raw FP but run low-precision math the Top500 doesn't measure.
